EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In this year’s Supply Chain Barometer, we asked 3,000 CEOs from the US, UK, DACH, and Benelux regions to reflect on their decisions and the challenges and priorities ahead.
The results provide rich insight into where business leaders focus their time and efforts. What is clear from the data is that challenges are amplified the larger the organization. The top 20% of our data set (by organization size) appears to be the most affected by today’s global pressures. Where there is complexity, this group has more; where there is confidence, this group has less.
JUST WHAT IS YOUR CEO FOCUSED ON? This report explores key areas and challenges CEOs will address over the coming months.
Adding insights from the European market to this year’s report provides an interesting comparison to the UK and the US. Overall, CEOs in DACH and Benelux feel more confident about sustainability and their ability to implement emerging regulations. DACH leaders plan to spend marginally less time than their counterparts on supply chain topics. The reasons are likely multifaceted but could include the EU’s relative stability and maturity regarding regulation, sustainability, and trading conditions compared to the US and UK.
Market dynamics continue to shift, geopolitical tensions continue to unfold, and supply chains continue to be redesigned and reconfigured as globalization continues to give way to regional, “friendly” trading zones. For businesses there are few signs of relief from the turbulance. The next 12 months, like the last, will see a continuation of a difficult operating environment, one which business leaders must navigate wisely.
